Eating right and getting enough exercise are important for your health, but what’s the connection between spirituality and health? How is faith or trust related to our well being? Our physical body benefits when we follow the 8 laws of health that God has put into place. How can spiritual health or lack thereof affect us physically?
Mental health and spiritual health often go hand in hand. This is because faith, worry, anxiety, trust, depression, hope, and joy are closely tied together. When we have trust in a Power higher than ourselves, our worry and anxiety can be alleviated. When we realize that God loves us and never leaves us alone, depression gives way to hope and joy. As we get to know God on a personal level, our faith increases and hope and confidence are the result.
Even science suggests a relationship exists between spirituality and health, with research identifying the health benefits of religion. Some studies have found that those who practice a religious faith often have better health. A study found that older individuals who attended religious services and activities generally had lower blood pressure than those who did not.1 Those who practice their faith are often more inclined to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyle habits2 compared to non-religious folks. Individuals who don’t regularly partake in religious activities or services have a greater chance of being less healthy than those who practice a faith.3
But we should not have faith in God just because science says so. The essence of trust and faith is not science, or a religious activity or service, but a Person. Here at Amazing Health we believe that trust in the God of the Bible is the best remedy for mental and emotional health as well as physical health. After all, He made you and cares about you.
Aside from benefits that improve our physical, mental, and emotional health, God wants to do something even better for us. Those who trust God are granted the gift of eternal life. The future life that awaits those who place their trust in God is a life of perfect health and freedom. That life will be free from sadness, pain, fear, and death.
What does it mean to trust God? How can we learn to trust Him? Does He care about us personally? Does He even exist?
Before you’re able to fully trust anyone, you need to get to know them. You want to learn about their personality, their likes and dislikes. You want to understand how they communicate, and how they behave toward others.

Developing trust in God requires the same method of investigation. To trust God you must first know Him. You need to talk with and listen to Him. You need to see how He treats others. You need to learn about His personality and character.
God wants to develop a close relationship with you. Although He might seem far away, He regularly communicates with humanity through different means.
If you don’t believe there is a God, we encourage you to look into it. More than just a superior Being, God wants to be your personal Friend and there are many testimonies of His direct intervention in the lives of those who believe in Him. Why not give Him a chance to make Himself known to you? You can always quit, but if you don’t try, you may be losing out on a beautiful relationship.
How does God speak to us?
Through the Bible
The Bible is a book written by forty different authors over 1500 years. This Book contains history, prophecy, and even guidance on health. Most importantly, this Book reveals God’s character and His unwavering love for humanity. It tells of the conflict between God and Satan, and shows the lengths God went to to rescue His beloved children and provide a way for them to spend a blissful eternity with Him. If you want to learn more about the God of the Bible, or find out whether the Bible really is a trustworthy letter from God, check out our articles on this subject here.
Through the life of Christ
One of the most profound stories in the Bible is that of the life of Christ. God sent His Son Jesus into the world so that we could have a better understanding of the character of God and His immeasurable love. Christ lived a humble life of compassion, service, and selflessness. His mission culminated with His death on the cross, where He gave Himself for the sins of the world. Christ’s life and sacrifice were the ultimate portrayal of the love of God for us.
Through nature
Nature was created for our joy and refreshment. At Creation, God made a beautiful world filled with beautiful things that He knew we would enjoy. Unfortunately, sin and selfishness have degraded the natural world. However, we can still learn of God and His love through the things of Nature. To learn more about whether creation is a viable option, and what the evidence actually shows, check out these articles. Have questions about why the natural world has so many things that are “not so good” like thorns and blood-sucking insects? We have answers for that too. Through Providential experiences
God is always at work shielding us from evil forces. Many times we don’t even realize when God has stepped in to intervene in a bad situation or prevent something disastrous from happening. There are many testimonies of miraculous experiences by those who have put their trust in God. Write us for a free book and we will send it to you.
But if God is good, and if He cares about us, why do bad things happen? Where is God when we suffer?
The Bible tells us that God is “not willing that any should perish” (2 Peter 3:9). He only wants the best for us, as He says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). Unfortunately, we have an enemy. There is a devil that goes around looking for ways to make us suffer and there’s a reason why God allows it.
We benefit from following the 8 laws of health. One of these laws involves developing a trust in God. God loves us and wants us to trust Him with the joys and struggles of life. We can learn to trust God by observing His nature and communicating with Him through various means. Even when difficulties happen, God has your best interest in mind and will never allow you to face something that you can’t handle (1 Corinthians 10:13).
